A WildChina Series

Made in China

Made in China goes inside the workshops and studios where objects take shape, exploring the craftsmanship behind them and meeting the people whose knowledge and skill guide their creation.

The series begins in Chengdu, where bamboo becomes a bicycle through careful cutting, joining, and weaving. In Songyang, we meet the last palm bed weaver, who transforms palm fiber into beds and mats by hand. Yunnan brings us into the colourful world of Dongba calligraphy, before we meet a Naxi embroiderer whose designs take shape stitch by stitch. Each episode follows an object from raw material to finished work, guided by the person who makes it.
