Explore the celestial landscape of Wulingyuan Scenic Area, where a forest of natural stone skyscrapers forms an ancient cityscape. This UNESCO World Heritage Site’s biggest draw is Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, home to the towering sandstone pillars that inspired the mythical world of Pandora in James Cameron’s Avatar. On a cloudy day, these pillars appear to be floating in the sky. South of Wulingyuan lies Tianmen (“Heaven’s Gate”) Mountain, where a gravity-defying glass walkway will make you feel as if you are walking in the sky. China’s Avatar mountains are truly a magical sight to behold.

Arrive in Zhangjiajie and meet your WildChina guide • Transfer to your hotel for check-in • Spend the evening at leisure, resting for the days ahead among Zhangjiajie’s sandstone pillars and summit villages.
Explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, home to the sandstone pillars that inspired Avatar, including Golden Whip Stream, the First Bridge of the World, and the Southern Sky Column, now known as Avatar Hallelujah Mountain • Take a cable car up Tianzi Mountain for panoramic views over peaks, waterfalls, and natural bridges • Visit Yuanjiajie for dramatic vistas, ride the Hundred Dragon Elevator, and see the First Bridge of the World and Avatar Hallelujah Mountain up close • Stroll the Ten Miles Gallery, spotting rock formations shaped like figures amid wildflowers and forest.
Ride a cable car to Yellow Stone Village for sweeping views over cliffs, jagged karsts, and mist-covered peaks • Walk along Golden Whip Stream, a 7.5 km trail past crystal-clear pools, scenic terraces, and the First Bridge of the World.
Take a boat across Baofeng Lake, surrounded by lush mountains and waterfalls reflected in its still waters • Ride the world’s longest cable car up Tianmen Mountain, see the 130-meter-high Tianmen Cave, and walk cliffside paths or the glass skywalk for sweeping views • Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
