Thomas Lindesay Thomas Lindesay is a Beijing-based adventurer, guide, and cultural heritage conservationist with a lifelong connection to the Great Wall of China. Born in the UK, Thomas was raised beside the Wall under the guidance of his father, William Lindesay OBE, a leading figure in its preservation. From an early age, he developed a fascination with the Wall’s history, architecture, and cultural significance, which has shaped both his career and his explorations.

A graduate of Peking University with a degree in International Political Economy, Thomas combined academic rigor with a passion for endurance and discovery. In 2018, he became the youngest person to complete a journey on foot along the Great Wall, walking from Jiayuguan in the west to Dandong in the east — a 3,842 km trek accomplished in just 153 days. The journey not only cemented his place in exploration history but also deepened his understanding of the Wall’s enduring legacy across diverse landscapes and communities.

Today, Thomas leads Great Wall journeys, sharing his knowledge and personal experiences with travelers from around the globe.
