Luo Deyin (罗德胤)

Luo Deyin, Associate Professor in Architecture and Deputy Chairman of the Traditional Village Expert Steering Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, is mainly engaged in the research and protection of traditional settlements and vernacular architecture. At China’s prestigious Tsinghua University, he offers courses that include “Vernacular Architecture” and “Research on Vernacular Settlements” that focus on the protection and development of villages in Songyang, Zhejiang, Xinxian, Henan, Yongtai, Fujian, and Guangdong.

Luo Deyin has presided over dozens of village protection and development projects across the country and has published a number of books on the subject including Research and Exploration of Rural Settlements, Study on Chinese Villages, Xianxia Ancient Road, and Hani Terraced Settlement.
